Dark. Potent. With a subtle bitter aftertaste you won't soon forget. Chestnut honey is not for everyone — and that's precisely what makes it so special.

Chestnut honey is a monofloral blossom honey, harvested when the sweet chestnut trees around Virovitica are in bloom — June and July. For generations, the same family has worked here with respect for nature — raw harvested, nothing added.

The flavor profile is complex: potent, nutty, earthy — with notes of caramel and a characteristic slight bitterness in the aftertaste. That bitterness clearly distinguishes chestnut honey from forest honey, which derives its depth from honeydew resin. Chestnut is less sweet than almost all other varieties in our assortment — and in Italy, France, and the Balkan countries, it is the absolute favorite among honey connoisseurs.

As a Special Gift

For the person who has everything. Chestnut honey surprises — and is not easily forgotten.

As Our Grandparents Already Knew

Chestnut honey has been valued for generations in European folk wisdom — traditionally associated with energy, vitality, and healthy circulation. In Italy, France, and the Balkan countries, it is considered one of the most nutritious types of honey. Traditionally used for sore throats and as a soothing remedy for coughs — its powerful composition makes chestnut honey more than just a sweetener in folk wisdom.

Crystallization — What You Need to Know

Chestnut honey crystallizes slowly — due to the specific sugar composition of chestnut nectar, it remains relatively liquid for a long time. When crystallization occurs, the honey develops a thicker, chewy texture and remains dark in color. A proof of purity. Place the jar in a bath of warm water to let it melt gently.

Answer: Our honey is the perfect natural substitute for refined sugars for the whole family. Please note, however: as with all honey, it is not recommended for children under 1 year of age.

  • Storage advice: Store the honey in a dark place at room temperature (for example, in a kitchen cupboard). Never put honey in the refrigerator; this accelerates the crystallization process and detracts from its spreadability.

This is precisely the proof of the highest quality! Real, raw honey crystallizes over time. This is a natural process that shows that our honey has not been overheated or industrially filtered, which means all healthy pollen and enzymes are still present.

  • Tip: Do you want to make the honey liquid again? Simply place the jar in a bowl with lukewarm water (maximum 40°C). This way, the vital power of the honey is preserved.
