About Our Honey
Where does your honey come from?
Our honey comes from a family beekeeping farm in Virovitica, Croatia. We know the beekeepers personally, it's our own family. The region is known for its rich biodiversity: the bees fly on acacia, linden, chestnut, hawthorn, and wild wildflowers. You can taste that in every jar.
What does raw harvested and cold extracted mean?
After harvesting, the honey is cold extracted. This means that the honey is spun from the combs without heating. This preserves all natural enzymes, flavor notes, and nutrients. Raw honey is not pasteurized and not blended. What you find in the jar is exactly what the bees have made.
Why does honey harden?
Raw honey crystallizes over time. This is a good sign, as it proves that the honey is pure and unprocessed. Industrial honey does not crystallize because it has been heated and filtered.
How do I make honey liquid again?
Place the jar in a bowl of water around 36 to 38°C, so approximately body temperature. Let it melt slowly and do not go above 40°C, as this will start to damage the honey.
Is your honey suitable for everyone?
Yes, for everyone aged 1 year and older. Raw honey is not suitable for children younger than 1 year.
How do I best store honey?
At room temperature, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Not in the refrigerator, as that accelerates the crystallization process. With proper storage, honey can last for years.
